Y EXPANDS PROGRAMS WITH NEW DIRECTOR

The Schuylkill YMCA/YWCA would like to welcome Chris Grassley as the senior program director.
As the newest member of the Y team, Chris will be responsible for youth and adult programming, as well as all facility rentals.
"I look forward to a long career with the YMCA because I believe in what the Y stands for," Chris said. "Moving to the Schuylkill YMCA is a great step for my career. It's exciting to be a part of this great organization and county."
Schuylkill Y Executive Director Wayne Stump said Chris will play a vital role in expanding the Y's growing youth and adult programming.
"We were so lucky to find Chris because he has a long history with the Y and intends to foster that relationship moving forward," Stump said. "He's going to bring a lot of energy and originality to our programs."
Chris graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with a bachelor's degree in physical education with a concentration in health and athletics.
He started his YMCA career nine years ago in Nashville working for the YMCA of Middle Tennessee where he was a site director for the school-age childcare program. After relocating to his hometown area in Columbia County, PA, Chris worked at the Bloomsburg Area YMCA, starting as a fitness and sports director, then moving on to program director. He attained his YMCA Senior Directorship in November, 2006.
The Schuylkill YMCA/YWCA currently has two full-time facilities in Pottsville-the Main Center at 520 N. Centre St. and the Program Center at 325 S. Centre St. The Main Center includes a newly-refurbished gymnasium, a teen center complete with recording studio, computer lab, and video arcade fitness center, and a state-of-the-art adult fitness center.
